In today’s rapidly growing society, air pollution and contaminated surfaces are a serious threat to our health and the safety of our environment. Air pollution can create a host of health issues, including lung damage, cancer, heart problems, impacts the nervous system, and more. What’s more, air pollution and contaminated surfaces can have lasting impacts on the environment around us and can directly impact things such as human health, water quality, and plant and animal health. Fortunately, a break-through in modern science has found a solution to help with what has become a global health crisis.
Our photocatalytic coating breaks down viruses, bacteria, airborne pollutants, odors, VOCs, and other environmental toxins using the latest advancements in nanotechnology. These photocatalytic air purification and surface sanitation coatings are powered by nanotechnology that features a “smog-eating” property to create the most advanced light-activated functional surface coatings on the market. Use our photocatalytic coating throughout your home, office, school, or healthcare facility.
Our Multipurpose Photocatalytic coating is specifically designed for outdoor use and for use in public spaces to actively clean the air, surfaces, and surrounding environment while reducing the need for maintenance and cleaning. The Multipurpose coating is ideal for outdoor environments, where indoor air purification technology is not feasible and ineffective.
Our photocatalytic coating is non-toxic, solvent-free, and ISO certified. Our photocatalytic coating not only purifies the air, but it also sanitizes surfaces, providing a cleaner, healthier living, and working environment, In addition to its air purification and surface sanitation properties, it also prevents stains from mold and mildew growth, eliminates odors, protects against UV light damage, and reduces discoloration and buildup of grime on surfaces. Our photocatalytic coatings are powered by titanium dioxide, which is a harmless compound used in many common household products such as toothpaste and organic sunscreens. It is safe for both humans and animals and is ideal for use in homes, offices, schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, airports, and more to provide cleaner air and more sanitary surfaces.
LumaClean™ FAQ’s
How LumaClean Works
This coating uses photocatalytic titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles to absorb ultraviolet (UV) and visible light to drive the decomposition of water to hydroxyl radicals or organic and inorganic compounds to their oxidized forms (such as nitrous oxide (NOx) to nitrate salts). The hydroxyls produced can undergo further reactions with odors, organic and inorganic compounds, and pollution to eliminate harmful species in the air and produce water in a catalytic cycle.
In 1967, Ph.D. student Akira Fujishima working in a small lab at the University of Tokyo, discovered that the anatase form of titanium dioxide, a common food pigment, decomposes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other air pollutants when exposed to UV light. More than 49 years and over 3,000 academic studies later, scientists agree that global air pollution can be positively impacted by the widespread application of photocatalytic anatase titanium dioxide coatings.
In the presence of light, the compounds that our coating is capable of decomposing include nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), formaldehyde, benzene, allergens, pathogens, odors and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These pollutants are converted into non-toxic compounds like carbon dioxide, water, and nitrates.
Our photocatalytic coating works by creating hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions during photocatalysis – these ‘scrubbers’ break down harmful organic airborne pollutants such as VOCs, nitric oxides, carbon monoxide, and methane into harmless byproducts.
Additionally, thanks to advances in nanotechnology, this coating contains nano-scaled particles that allow for an increased surface area of reactive material when compared to larger-scale particles. As a result, the photocatalytic coating has a higher rate of photocatalytic activity and decomposes organic pollutants much more quickly than our competitors, as evidenced by the ISO testing results of the International Photocatalyst Standards Testing Centre.
Whether our customers are environmentally conscious and intent on decreasing the air pollution in urban environments, looking to create healthier indoor environments, or only interested in keeping their assets clean and reducing building maintenance costs, America Nanocoat’s photocatalytic coatings offer an innovative eco-friendly solution.
Visible Light Photocatalysis
Photocatalytic oxidation had once only been possible under the presence of UV light, and now with the chemistry America Nanocoat has to offer, it is now reactive into the visible light spectrum. The activation of this reaction in by visible light is possible through the doping of TiO2 with silver ions.
